Developers TH Real Estate have launched The Point, a 128,000 sq. ft. purpose-built, powered shell data centre scheme in London’s Docklands – a new build worth £21m. The scheme benefits from 15.5 MVA of power delivered from diverse substations to the building at 11 kV. The Point will deliver a projected net technical area of 5,575 sqm at a power density of 1.5 kW/sqm.
The sequence of works on this project was crucial to the completion date. To assist with this tight programme, we recommended an inverted felt system. This system is laid in such a way that allows the progression of other critical trades, at the same time as providing the client with a watertight building.
Kingspan KS1000DR Trapezoidal Secret-Fix Panel is ideal for all applications where the roof pitch is 1.5º or more after deflection and was therefore chosen for the extensive plant room roofing. This roof, together with the KS1000RW wall cladding, provides the client with a LPCB and FM approved composite system. These systems provide a fast, single-fix installation with high and durable thermal performance, insulation continuity, minimal air leakage and the elimination of interstitial cavity condensation and cold bridging.
The Kingspan Ultimate Panel Guarantee covers the structural and thermal performance for a period of up to 25 years and coating performance for a period of up to 40 years.
The volume of materials and site location proved a challenge for distribution. This was overcome due to the helpful assistance from the project site team, along with City Lifting Crane Hire, who were excellent throughout. (Daniel Adams, Contract Manager)
